Mapping Impervious Surface Distribution and Dynamics in an Arid/Semiarid Area-A Case Study in Ordos, China

The impervious surface area (ISA) has become an important parameter in the areas such as runoff, climate change, and socioeconomic analysis. However, using remote sensing data to accurately map ISA is still difficult due its complexity arid semi-arid with large amounts of bare soil, sparse vegetation, a small ISA. In this study, we have selected Ordos city study examined spatial pattern dynamics years 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, 2019 by multiple sources combination method. results indicate that ISAs were extracted overall accuracies 90.6%, 89.2%, 91.8% kappa coefficients 0.79, 0.76, 0.82, respectively. extraction Urban Index (UI), Normalized Difference Built-Up (NDBI), Index-based (IBI), Impervious Built-up from optical sensors (IBUIopt) used for comparison.
